Basically, it's a chipped shot penalty which makes goalkeeper dive elsewhere while the ball is played in the middle. A “panenka” was named after Czech Republic Antonin Panenka who used this method to win the UEFA European Championship title in 1976 against West Germany.

Ever since then the Panenka kick has become the trick strikers normally use to fool goalkeepers without having an idea of where exactly the striker is going to play the ball. The panenka chipped shot is rarely used by strikers for the fear of being tongue-lashed for missing the penalty. Only respected players who can face the consequences of missing the penalty normally use this method.

Panenka is a very risky way to taking penalty and that's why it's used by respected players. Aside Czech Republic"s Antonin Panenka, many strikers have also used this it in different ways. Messi played panenka as a free kick against Españyol which has got tongues wagging. Italian Andrea Pirlo also used it to fool England goalie Joe Hart in the 2012 Euro quarterfinals and they came out victorius

Do you think Panenka chipped penalty determines a great penalty taker? To me, it's a Yes because it's very risky and rarely used
