VAR works perfectly fine almost everywhere until it was introduced to EPL where it's still being heavily criticized by some football fans
If you go to other leagues like Italian League and Seria A where VAR has been implemented, the centre referee is still the one that ultimately makes the final decision during VAR call. However, it's left for him to decide whether he wants to stick to his former decision or overrule it but that of EPL is completely different
The guys in the VAR room are the ones who will make VAR call, review it and make the decision. They have the power to overrule the decision of the referee and this is the only thing I don't like really like EPL VAR
Apart from the fact that the centre referee is given limited power in decision making on the pitch, EPL VAR is way too mechanical. How on earth will the VAR team spend over five minutes measuring little things such as collar bone, fingers, toe nails, hair strands etc for offside? This is way too mechanical and the it's killing the thrills of the game
I think it will be a good idea of EPL VAR is reviewed and it should be like that of other leagues
Well, to me I see no negative reasons if the EPL VAR takes more minutes in checking the colar bone, fingers and so on as you've mentioned. I believe that all those things are meant to be observed to avoid issues. Like I'm very sure that even clothes are used to award the winner of a race. So?
