Barangay Ginebra focus Japeth Aguilar supported a delicate tissue wound in his left eye yet the damage was not arrangement enough to keep him out of the Kings turn.
Aguilar was coincidentally jabbed in the eye by partner Stanley Pringle with 6:54 left in the final quarter of Sunday's match in the end won by Ginebra, 102-83, over Alaska.
"It was a profound, profound jab, the one where the finger gets to the side of the eye and stalls out in there," Ginebra mentor Tim Cone told sportswriters during his post-game meeting. .
"It wasn't only a scratch. The finger truly got in," he included.
Fortunately, the damage wasn't as genuine as Cone had suspected.
"Japeth's fine, delicate tissue injury lang. He won't miss any games," said group supervisor Reyboy Rodriguez said.
Ginebra's next game against Phoenix Pulse will be on Saturday at the Big Dome, giving Aguilar sufficient opportunity to recuperate. (JT)
