Phoenix not rising: Portland for the win

in sportsteem •  7 years ago  (edited)

Even tho Napier being questionable for tonite's game is a small problem, it's nothing compared to the dumpster fire Phoenix is right now. Losing two in a row doesn't tell the full story. Beating OKC 3 games ago means nothing to us, what matters is Portland is playing for keeps and won't give up a home game to the experimental team which is the Suns on a nightly basis. Suns are playing Josh Jackson again, and attempting to see what they have in the last year of pre-change tanking. We recommend 2% AUM punt.

#1 Portland needs the wins, with Nurkic having a down year they need to get all the wins they can, especially against poorer teams.

#2 Home is a big advantage when trying to beat moneylines.

#3 Lillard and McCollum trump Booker when it comes to "winning time".

why we might be wrong

#1 Any Given Sunday an NBA team can shoot like '85 Nova.
Suns had such a game against OKC, albeit that was at home.

#2 Rookie Improvement
Improvement isn't linear, so if Dragan Bender or Josh Jackson has a game where they flash to their potential, look for trouble.

Great posting tenhanger -

As predicted, the Suns experimented heavily with Bender and Josh Jackson starting, and it cost them the ballgame. Lillard and McCollum had an offensive field day on them:

111-118

Nurkic still struggling vs last year's stellar performance, he's going to need to step it up (or get healthy?) if Portland wants to matter in the 2nd half of the season.
