Thibaut Courtois took another step to complete his transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid. The Belgian goalkeeper admitted moving for the sake of his heart.
Courtois has been linked with Madrid since last season. But the Blues as the owner continues to convince the player to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Until finally Courtois expressed his desire to return to Madrid some time ago. Courtois had lived in Madrid while on loan at Atletico Madrid in the 2011-2014 period.
Courtois wants to return to Madrid because his two children live there. Courtois already has two children from ex-girlfriend Marta Dominguez, a daughter named Adriana and a son named Nicolas.
This made Courtois move to Madrid. After Chelsea agreed to take it off, Thursday (08/09/2018), the new goalkeeper led the Belgian national team to finish third in the 2018 World Cup hoping fans could understand it.
"I want to thank the fans for their great support over the years. I hope you can understand that closer to children is a big factor in my decision," Courtois explained in his farewell to social media.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper stayed under medical tests before being introduced as a new Madrid player. As for Chelsea, it has been appointed Kepa Arrizabalaga as his successor.
