Mourinho wants Pickford to replace De Gea

The Spaniard is Spain's number one goalkeeper and at Manchester United, he's been the standout player for the better of five seasons. He's been given the award for the best player at the club for four seasons.

Things however aren't quite right as De Gea has refused to sign a contract extension with the club. He was asked recently about the situation and he replied that he's only concerned about winning trophies. Trophies are used to being United's thing but since Fergie left in 2013, they've been hard to come back.

Juventus are one of the few suitors for the goalkeeper and are proven winners. It's looking more likely that De Gea could move in January as Manchester United are not prepared to trigger the one year extension they have in his contract.

Jose Mourinho has been an admirer of Jordan Pickford and could come in should De Gea go away. The Manchester United hierarchy are behind the boss on this as they also believe that the England international could be a worthy replacement for De Gea should he leave.
