Massimo Ferrero, Sampdoria President has made the confirmation concerning the move of Lucas Torreira out of the club to join Arsenal. The transfer fee is said to be tagged at €30 million (£26m/$35m).
Torreira is currently with the rest of the Uruguayan World Cup squad at Russia where they prepare to go head on against Russia on the 25th of June after battling and defeating Saudi Arabia yesterday to come off with a 1-0 victory.
He is expected to head over to the Emirates Stadium to complete his transfer once the World Cup tournament is over. With this signing, the midfielder becomes the fourth signing of the summer for Unai Emery.
The departure was announced by the Ferrero on Italian Television as he noted that the club had done a good job on the player, noting that the price and worth of the player had increased massively since joining the club.
He also added that Sampdoria, although a family-run club, has been much of a stepping stone for players, helping to see them grow up and achieve their aspirations of playing for big clubs which is quite normal.
