Hartley: We over-exceeded our expectations in Bahrain

Brendon Hartley has come out to say that the expectations had by both Toro Rosso and Honda during its Formula 1 Partnership are expectations that should not have been there in the first place.

Finishing in fourth position, Pierre Gasly handed Honda its best result since 2015 when it returned to F1.

In two of five other races, points have been scored by the team, the first being a 10th place finish by Hartley during a seemingly chaotic Azerbaijan GP and the second being in Monaco where Gasly finished at seventh position.

In F1’s midfield, Toro Rosso has hardly been a consistent performer and this was noted by Hartley who stated that external expectations were wrongly raised.

He also noted that it won’t be unfair if they say that they over exceeded all of their expectations for the races in Bahrain.

One week later after the Bahrain race came the Chinese GP where Toro Rosso also had to significantly struggle in its races.
