The Spanish outlet have tabled an offer for Giroud according to reports.
The France international was a regular for cup-winning France although he didn't score throughout the competition.
Giroud departed Arsenal for Chelsea for an undisclosed fee last season. But the deal is believed to be in the region of £18 million.
Chelsea though are reluctant to go with Athletico asking because the later are seeking a loan deal with an option to buy. The blues though want a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
In my opinion, I don't think Athletico needs a player like Giroud as the Frenchman is only known to be good with his head and makes little contribution to the build up of play. I think they need him though to be a backup for Diego Costa.
