The player sustained injuries to his knee while training on Wednesday. It is the not exactly known, the extent of the injuries but the player has the possibility of spending the next two or three months at the sidelines.
This has dealt a serious blow to City's hope of defending the title this season as Kevin De Bruyne has been one of their most influential players.
The damage to his lateral muscle may mean that other players would have to step up to replace him. Manchester city didn't sign any new midfielder but they can always rely on players like David Silva, Bernardo Silva, IIkay Gundogan and Phil Foden.
