The Argentine was tipped to complete a move to AC Milan but the deal has been slowed down by the player's demands.

All had looked set for the 30 years old to move to the San Siro with a deal struck at £54 million which would see Leonardo Bonucci and Mattia Caldara move in opposite directions. Yet, two things have stalled the deal from going through.

First, Higuain wants a permanent deal, not a loan. The initial agreement was that the player moved for a season-long loan valued at £18 million with an option to buy permanently for £36 million next season. This is despite Milan's president explaining to Higuain that the deal was designed that way to satisfy financial fair play rules.

Also, Higuain wants to earn £9 million a year. This will be an increase to the £7.5 million he currently earns in Juventus.

Further talks have been scheduled for today. The Caldara-Bonucci swap is hinged on this deal and won't happen unless Higuain agrees.
