That's the news I just happened on. It revealed that Julen Lopetegui had already been sacked in the executive Chambers but was saved by Real Madrid's vice chairman, Jose Angel Sanchez.
I wouldn't want to be in Lopetegui's shoes right now. I can imagine what would be going through his mind. He left Spain's job to coach Real Madrid, thinking it would be the best moments of his career. An added advantage, he was going to coach the world best player.
Things however did not go that way. Ronaldo left barely few days to when he was to begin himself actual work. The players, a lot of them, were low on confidence. Things didn't exactly fit into what he'd expected and he was given the job of finding the players' sweet spot, one that he still hasn't found.
Jose hadn't exactly saved him his job ultimately but had simply extended his execution sentence. Only a win against Barcelona would cut him some slack, one he certainly needs right now.
