Southgate warns Rashford - "You need to play more"

The Manchester United player was on the scoresheet in England's defeat to Spain. The coach however has given him a lifeline.

Rashford has seen his game time reduce drastically under Mourinho. It's like the Portuguese doesn't believe in him as much as his predecessor, Louis Van Gaal, did. He's had to dig it out with Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez.

However, with the situation going forward, Rashford would want more assurance of regularly football from Mourinho. This may be one reason why he halted a contract renewal. He's still very young and wouldn't want anything to put a stopper to what should be a brilliant career.

Southgate knows Rashford talents and the player knows the team is behind him but he also knows that that regular top football is what would guarantee him a place in Southgate's lineup.
