UEFA to honor David Beckham with 2018 UEFA President’s Award

First introduced in 1998, every year, UEFA Presidents Award is awarded to recognize the achievements and contribution made by a player in and outside the field. This year, the honored president of UEFA Aleksander Ceferin has paid tribute to David Beckham after selecting Beckham to receive the 2018 UEFA President’s Award. In his astonishing career, he played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG, Preston North End, LA Galaxy and England National Team. Not only he was successful inside the field as a footballer, but outside the field, he is a successful businessman, model, and a spokesperson.

Beckham has captained England national team in 59 matches in 6 years. He made 115 appearances for the English team in his career. He also played in 3 World Cups of 1998, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup for England, but England couldnt do well. England got knocked out at Round of 16 in 1998 while were out from quarterfinals in 2002 and 2006. But he will be remembered for scoring goals in each of the World Cup; Only a few footballing icons have managed to do it. He is known for his astonishing Free Kick Goals, scoring many Free Kicks goals in important matches.

Beckham is one the top earner in the football ever. Beckham was ranked at the top as the highest paid footballer in 2013. In the year 2013, Beckham earning was more than $50 million. Not only he made the money, but he also gave the money back as he is a very active social worker. He is one of the most charitable athletes, he is working for UNICEF, Help for Heroes and many other programs. Beckham was an ambassador of UNICEF UK since 2005 and he launched The David Beckham UNICEF Fund in year 2015.

David Beckham will receive 2018 UEFA President’s Award in the French city Monaco. Playing for Manchester United, he won UEFA Champions League in 1999 and six Premier League titles. He is the only one player from England to win the league titles in England, Spain, France and the United States. He also holds the record “The first British player to play in 100 Champions League games”.Beckham was included in the UEFA Team of The Year two times in 2001 and 2003. But he missed the football biggest individual award as he was unlucky to finish as the runner-up behind Rivado in the Ballon dOr.
