Stringer spent no less than 11 years as an active international, which saw him win about 98 caps. The peak of his career was reached with the 2009 Grand Slam which has been quoted as being a historic moment.

This came after he sent in a pass to Ronan O’Gara who went on to kick a drop goal to see them clinch the coveted Grand Slam title.

He has also featured in over 200 games for Munster and was a member of the three Triple Crown-winning teams. In 2006, he helped them up to clinch the European Cup.

In the Aviva Premiership, he has also featured for a number of clubs and just last season, he called it quits with his final club being Worcester.

In 2016, Stringer was with Sale Rugby where he won the Player of the Year award.
