What Happened To Them?

What happened to Gareth Bale? Everyone expected him to step into the shoes of Cristiano Ronaldo but he has failed woefully at that. Injury placed a huge part in his loss of form and it also led to inconsistency in his game. Gareth Bale showed flashes of his brilliance when they last won the Champions' League with that brilliant overhead kick. When Ronaldo confirmed his exit, everyone looked up to Gareth Bale to step up and I am sure that was one of the reasons why Real Madrid failed to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with a marquee signing.

Gareth Bale flopped and couldn't live up to expectation and he was missing for most part of the season due to injury. It remains unclear to see whether Zidane would use him but as it stands, his place in Real Madrid is no longer guaranteed. With the additions they made in the current transfer market, with many more to come, Gareth Bale is now dispensable and he has been muted to join Manchester United.

He would be a great addition to Manchester United, who also suffered a season to forget last season. They could use his pace, experience and of course the familiarity with the English Premier League. With Daniel James already in the ranks, Manchester United would do well to use both as wingers; that they are, and exploit the width that has eluded United since the era of Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo during their time in United.

Coutinho is another player I least expected to flop in Barcelona. With the huge price tag on his head and coming to Barcelona on a great run of form, you could bet that he would adequately replace the pain of losing Neymar. He showed flashes of his brilliance as well but he didn't have any significant impact.

The path to self-discovery is to personally assess yourself and admit the real truth. He recently admitted that he has been off the pace and form and hopefully, he would be able to rediscover himself when the season starts.

He has been linked to PSG, Manchester United and few other clubs too, but I think he would do well to stay in Barcelona rather than go to another team just to start from the scratch, which might make him lose his confidence and of course get frustrated.

The transfer window is still open and in football surprises are bound to happen anytime and any day. I look forward to seeing what this season's transfer market holds. I really hope Manchester United will invest heavily and make competition for places tougher; which would make fringe players to sit up or leave the club.

In my opinion, I think a major reason why Bale's form has deteriorated recently has been due to complacency. He seems to be off his game recently. The Bale I used to know was a player whose vibrance and zeal to up his game was envied by his counterparts. Its really obvious he has grown complacent due to the exit of Ronaldo. He felt there was no other person to compete with him. But it's obvious he was wrong.

Yes, he needs to look at himself in the mirror and do better. This was how Balotelli and Adriano's careers went down the drain. If he doesn't sit up and work on how to keep himself fit, he would soon be forgotten.

Thanks for this amazing comment.
