The German international revealed during his interview with ESPN that he doesn't see himself as a defensive midfielder and doesn't want it.
The player had been used in that role in the game against Athletico but has affirmed that the defensive midfield role is not his preferred position. He said 'I'm no Casemiro'.
Toni Kroos also made a positive remark about Kimmick and believes that they both could form a food partnership at the midfield for Germany.
Kroos also expressed himself concerning Coach Joachim Low's position where Michael Ballack had said he was shocked that Joachim was still the coach of the Germany national team. Kroos said such things happen, referring to their uncharacteristic elimination from the world cup at the group stage, and that the country has moved on from the past.
