Just recently, he was crowned sport man of the year in his country. That was the crown of it all, a journey that many recognised started from the world cup.
Indeed, Luka Modric was at the heart of the midfield controlling them play for Croatia as they fought their way to the finals of the World Cup. It took the resilience of France to stop them with a thrilling match that ended in favor of Les Blues 4-2.
During the summer, there were speculations that Luka Modric was going to leave the club for Italy but the player has acted to quell the rumors by stating that its his 'big ambition' to retire in Spain.
