Angelique Kerber has now won her maiden Wimbledon title after triumphing over Serena Williams, a 7 time champion of the event.
Beating Williams in straight sets, Kerber who is currently 11th seed added the Wimbledon title to her US Open crown, as well as her 2016 Australian Open Crown.
The 30 year old German broke the serve made by Serena in the match's first game. However, Serena was able to bounce back and go on to level things up to 3-3.
After that, Kerber won the next three games to see her emerge the winner of the first set.
The next set had Williams make more than 25 unforced errors. She was yet unable to stage a comeback against the German.
The 7th game of the 2nd set saw Kerber break Serena's serve before she went on to serve the match out.
With this win, Kerber has now recorded her fourth win over Serena in just about 10 meetings.
