All is now set for the third round of the Wimbledon event, with Simona Halep, World Number 1 and Angeique Kerber, World No 1. being the latest entrance into the round after muscling their way through at the Wimbledon.
The first set saw Halep emerge without any injuries before going on to grab a superb win over Zheng Saisai of China in the second set of a match that ended 7-5 6-0.
A less dominant Kerber who faced Claire Liu of America almost fell to defeat in a match that was prolonged to three sets.
Kerber, a finalist in the 2016 edition of the tournament was almost facing defeat after losing the first set. However, she came back strong to see the match off to 3-6 6-2 6-4.
The next round will have Kerber face off against Naomi Osaka who beat Katie Boulter of Britain to 6-3 6-4.
