Jose Mourinho is yet to agree that the club new signing Fred can be the replacement for their former midfielder Michael Carrick, that he can just be another important players on his own.
The Brazilian moved to the Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk in June on a reported fee of £50m and above but yet to appear in any of United's pre season matches after his Russia 2018 world cup campaign with Brazil.
The departure of Carrick has seen the Brazilian join Manchester United and he will be part of Jose Mourinho's team come 2018/19 season as the coach said the midfielder [Fred] can add some creativity to the midfield and probably support the attacking players sometimes.
"The likes of Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are physically strong midfielders. Nevertheless, player like Fred in our squad whose technicality is superb can surely have more connection with the attackers right from the midfield.
He is a key player though we are still expecting Michael's successor." Mourinho told reporters.
