Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, both former champions of the Wimbledon competition in past years, just recently succeeded in battling their way into the third round of the Wimbledon tournament.
The second round which was held on Thursday, also had Marin Cilic, third seed and runner-up in the 2017 edition of the competition crash out after losing his match.
Nadal who is the current Roland Garros champion, as well as the reigning world number one fought it out with Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin beating him with 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. The next round will see Nadal face off against Alex de Minaur, the Australian teenager.
Meanwhile, Djokovic, a three time all England champion went on to defeat Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in straight sets of 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 despite needing treatment on his left thigh at a point in time on court two.
The other match of the day saw Thomas Fabbiano, an Italian qualifier knock out Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, a former World No. 3 to see him off to a place in the third round of the tournament.
