The Host Team Gets Man Of The Match...

The host team of the World Cup Tournament, Russia were victorious in their game against Spain were there defeated their opponents in a penalty shootout. The game ended in a draw and the two teams went forward to the penalty where the Russian Squad were able to perform extremely as they emerged victoriously with a 4-3 win.
The man of the match was the Russian Goalkeeper, Akinfeev who led the team to victory by saving a total of nine shots directed towards the goal and in the penalty time, he saved the ball twice. His action has lifted his team to the Quarter Finals and the two saves he made were shots from Koke and Lago Aspas of the Spanish Squad.

For a long time ago, he has been known to fans as the Shot Stopper being aged around 32 years of age.
Having noticed his talents, the Manchester United board tipped him to move over to their club in 2009 but he declined and instead remained back at CSKA Moscow which has been his boyhood club. He joined this club right from the time he was five years of age and little by little, he rose up to the ranks of the youths and he has featured in over a total of 500 games.

In the Russian Premier League history, he has kept the cleanest sheets than any other goalkeeper and now, they have moved forward to either face Croatia or Denmark in the Quarter Finals.
