Chelsea FC had it all planned, to put up a new stadium with a capacity of at least sixty thousand spectators. It was to be situated at their current home in Stamford Bridge and at a cost price of about five hundred and seventy million euros. Now, the announcement has been linked to the suspension of the visa of Russian oligarch, Roman Abramovich who owns Chelsea FC by the Government of the United Kingdom.
Earlier In March this year, the interior minister for Britain said in a press conference that the visas issued to wealthy foreign investors would have to be re-examined due to the situation, where the former Russian spy, Sergei Skripral was poisoned in England three months ago. This caused a major strain in the British relations with Moscow since the fateful incident making them yet to renew Abramovich’s visa after it expired last month. This information was gathered from sources handling and familiar with the matter.
Also in March, the interior minister for Britain said that the government would look magnamously at the visas issued to all wealthy foreign investors and after a dialogue, make a decision on whether any relevant action needs to be taken. The amiable Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May also said, “it is right to see whether visas were being used properly or not”.
