Welcome to my small world of a rare genre of violin playing from east India! It's called Gaayaki-Ang.

Raga -- a form of music that tries to emulate an artist's performance on a blank piece of white sheet or canvas, with different brush strokes, colors, movements, tempo variations and tonal manipulation with the sole purpose of trying to elevate the human music listeners' experiences to the zenith of the ecstatic realm of aesthetics and traditions, repertoire laden with creativity, imagination and an archaic system that has survived the stone age to the present. Welcome to the fascinating world of Indian classical ragas on the violin and in the Gaa-Yaki-Ang genre.

Gaa-Yaki-Ang (Gayaki-Ang) Genre Music pronounced "Gaa-Ya-Kee" ang / ung, is a very special genre of Indian classical fiddle / violin playing that emulates the human voice in its nearest possible ways and explores the intricacies and subtleties of the vocal cords that help one "sing". A handful of violinists, cellists, violists and other stringed / bowed instrumentalists play / indulge in this special genre, Gaa-Yaki-Ang.

This specialty musical lineage has been a pioneering effort of legendary virtuoso violinist, Dr. N. Rajam (Mumbai, India). I have been her senior disciple / student, pursuing this genre since early eighties and I reside in Los Angeles, CA.
