Tottenham have failed to sign any new players this summer… making them the first Premier League club to add no new faces since the transfer window was first introduced.

Tottenham have become the first Premier League club to make no new signings in a transfer window since the concept as we know it came into use in 2003.
Mauricio Pochettino has opted not to strengthen his squad this summer and the club will enter their new stadium with the majority of the playing staff intact from last season.
Spurs' frugal financial outlook has become common place in recent years but failure to do any business this summer has now given them an unwanted place in history.
Before transfer windows came into use clubs could buy or sell players throughout the season up until March 31. This was because any deals beyond that risked 'undermining the integrity of competitions' as they reached their climax.
The present system was introduced for the 2002-03 season as part of an agreement with the European Commission. It was felt a dedicated system was best for both players and clubs and from then on the summer and winter transfer windows came into effect.
The system has been used universally since and is now firmly part of the modern game. Leeds had been the closest to making no new signings but eventually managed to get Jody Morris in on a free in the first summer of the transfer window's introduction.
Spurs' lack of transfer business has frustrated their supporters after they failed to add depth and quality to a team that appears to be right on the cusp of winning major trophies.

@kalimthedream3 tweeted: 'I can't believe the absolute bloody shambles of a transfer window we have had. What a joke. I cannot stand levy. If we win no trophies this season, he needs to get axed.'
'Levy has ruined Tottenham this window, split the fan base, destroyed the morale, in what was supposed to be an exciting for us going into the new ground. Now with no signings we could get left behind in the top 4 race, any any trophy is unlikely,' posted @shivch22.
The misery was compounded further by @RyanKay75: 'All #THFC fans saying who can possibly come in an improve the starting 11? if there is no room for improvement then pls tell me why we finished 30 odd points behind the league winners, and in 3rd place in the league? Unless you finish first there is always room for improvement.'

Hi @tonyelvis, I'm @checky ! While checking the mentions made in this post I noticed that @shivch22 and @ryankay75 don't exist on Steem. Maybe you made some typos ?
