One of the tricks to beekeeping in beekeeping is to place our tools such as pots and flower pots in a suitable place in the shade and bring the beehives to it. A Bee colony brought in by such a jar should be deposited in a brood hive a few months later to facilitate our control. Here's how to put one together for use with your beehive.
Here we have to prepare the equipment and other materials that we think are needed for this. A standard type of beehive suitable for burying a colony in a pot is a hive, a smoker for controlling bees, a knife with a thin blade, scissors, banana peel or sackcloth (flax thread) for splitting the pot, and a needle for splitting the pot. A thorn or 2 ”concrete nail and hammer, a container of water and a clean cloth will be of primary use to us.
First we need to light the coconut husk with a lump of charcoal and light it to light the smoke disposal (smoke) properly. Then some of the smoke coming out of the clouds should be directed to the mouth of the pot and the wires tied to the pot should be removed and stored in a convenient place near us while keeping the position of the pot as it is.
Insert a small amount of smoke back into the pot and check how the bee stings are tied and draw a line through the pot to observe how the pot should be broken so as not to damage the hive. (In this case, the pot should be broken so that the mouth of the pot avoids it.) Then the pot should be covered with a cloth to prevent the bees from coming out.
Then, with the help of a spike or a "2" wire nail, gently tap it with a hammer to make a series of holes along the line and finally separate the pot. Our next task is to keep the hive tied to the two separate sections and to the upper hive frames in our hive. This should be done quickly and carefully. Smoke consumption should be minimized and care should be taken to minimize fly fly scattering by using it only when necessary.
Then the hives should be cut one by one and placed in frames and tied with banana straps or sackcloth. The edge attached to the hive should be attached to the top of the frame and the top edge of the hive should be cut so that it is straight with the help of a knife. If the hive is larger than the frame, most of the eggs and larvae should be removed from the top edge of the hive. It will be important for the hive to be in a shady, easy-to-check location. If placed near the house, the gate of the highway should be oriented so that the night light does not fall on it.
Depending on the weather conditions in Sri Lanka, these directions will be suitable for protection from monsoon rains and winds and for more light during the day. Once the bee colony is placed in the box, the bee colony should be given a sugar solution prepared for food from that night onwards.
