Location
St Martin Island is a coral island located in the north-eastern part of the Bay of Bengal, south of Bangladesh. The Jinjira, Southern Para, Galachira and Ceradia comprises the 'Saint Martin Island' on these four islands. It is located about 9 kilometers south of Teknaf of Cox's Bazar district and 8 km west of Myanmar coast at Mohana in Naf river. The island is approximately 5.63 kilometer long in the north and south. The width of the island is somewhere 700 meters and somewhere 200 meters. There are numerous counties on the east, south and west sides of the island, to a great extent. The average height of this island from the sea level is 3.6 meters. This island is also called coconut ginger so that there is plenty of coconut available on this island.
Precedent
The ancient name of St. Island was Jazira. According to locals, the Arab merchants gave this name. Later, Jazira became famous as the coconut jinzira through local people. But later it is known that the English called it Sentimartin. The size of this island is about 8 square kilometers and long to the north-south. The rock is on three sides of the island, which watered during the tide and wakes up during the tide. If you catch them, its area will be approximately 10-15 square kilometers. According to geologists, the island is about two million years old.
