I use to say that this new generation has everything handed to them on a platter. If you feel am lying let’s take a look at my time compared to theirs.

  1. We used words like Mama and Papa who taught you mummy and daddy

  2. Growing up you learn that only one voice is absolute and one presence is Supreme. Let me explain my mother said “Don’t collect anything from anybody if am not around” this is what re-echoes in the minds of my generation whenever a person offers them anything and no matter how appealing you hear “Uncle/ Aunty thank you while trying to reject the gift but if your mother is present you look at her for approval” or when Victor is playing outside and one of the other kids sights Victors father, what you hear next is Victor Your father is coming and at the mention of that statement Victor has already disappeared from the playground.

  3. Whenever our parents were around then all of us would behave in other not to incur the wrath of the gods but whenever they were out then the mice could play.

  4. Today I see my little cousins sit in the parlor even when visitors are around. My brothers and sisters your name would be sorry if a visitor is in the parlor and by mistake your legs crosses the parlor without being called or a legitimate reason. Just go and cut your cane.

  5. Talking of parlors’, we were always invited by our parents. Yes, you heard me invited. This happens on special occasions probably you have done something good or maybe they (Parents) are just in a good mood and when you get in remember you don’t sit on the chair but on the floor.

  6. Who gave you the liver to on the T.V (Black and White) when your parents were not around. In fact, where will you get the key to open it.

  7. Dare you refuse to eat food with the pretext that you don’t like the food then your mother would stand behind with cane till you finish it.

  8. The easiest way to escape work is if you are sick or you are sleeping and be careful not to wake up immediately the work is done or the food is ready if not your case would not remain the same.

  9. We first learnt emoji from our mothers because she has different looks to explain what will happen to you when you get home. Children these days would not even understand. I heard one child ask his mother why are you looking at me like that? Chai no respect that day ehhh respect go be your name.

  10. Don’t get me started on those deacons in church. It always looked as if they were waiting to knock you for any lousy reason they could come up with.

  11. After school was always fun as you get to climb all the school tree and make sure you visit the stream to clean up yourself before you get home if not just prepare your cane.

  12. Dr. do good was the beginning of wisdom.

  13. When you have only one uniform which for play reasons you forgot to wash. In the morning you will quickly wash it and then towel dry it and that day in school you will not allow anybody touch you.

  14. Police and thief was considered a manly game while cooking with tin tomatoes were for the females.

  15. Moromoro or korimapa was the name given to the hair cut you get when your father takes you to the barber’s shop and when the barber ask sir please which style? You will be whispering low cut but your father will remove everything.
