THE NIGERIAN GIRL CHILD: Her right to her hair

I want to appreciate the Nigeria government for opening primary and secondary "SCHOOLS" in different regional areas & local governments, offering free education for all young inters right here in NIGERIA.

And I will also want to get the awareness of the government on this matter "NOT PERMITTING THE GIRL CHILD TO KEEP HER HAIR IN SCHOOL"

Yes she has right to her hair, she was born with it. let her make the choice of the hairstyle or haircut she desires.

I know and have seen some government schools in NIGERIA not permitting the girls to keep hairstyles or haircut of their choice in school. They'll have to trade this for the FREE EDUCATION they'll get from these schools, if you have to pay a price for something that is FREE then it's no longer "FREE".

I was a victim to this too, when things got bad in our family and we couldn't afford to pay our fees in school we had to drop out. For me to switch from my private school to this FREE GOVERNMENT SCHOOL, I had to CUT MY HAIR.

Unfortunately there were other free government schools that never had such rules but the distance was far so I couldn't attend, But if this school can actually allow this why can't the others.

We need to stop this, it makes no sense at all. I don't see any reason at all why they should give this meaningless rules, "HAIR CAN'T STOP THESE GIRLS FROM LEARNING".

NOW this also happens in most homes in NIGERIA especially the western part, whereby the parents of a girl dies and they bring this "TRADITION" from somewhere that she is expected to shave her hair. FOR WHAT, where is that done anywhere, anymore in this 21st century. We know it has been there for long even before we were born, but time's have changed. The world is now a global place, technologies have taken over even Christianity.

A girl in grieve, mourning her parents and you do this it hurts I tell you. You are expected to love, care and give her RIGHTS to her hair. Let it be her choice, please I'm pleading let's stop this.

PROTECT THESE GIRLS FROM THESE MEANINGLESS TRADITIONS.SAVE THE GIRL CHILD AND GIVE HER RIGHTS TO HER HAIR,THE BEAUTY OF A WOMAN IS HER HAIR.....
