REWARD OF PASSION

It's the football season!!!, not just any football season, it's the World Cup, it's time to boss the ball around, to kick and to throw, to dribble and sometimes the "Jogo burito". The FIFA World Cup is not just any game but also cements relationships between nations of the world and also bridges gaps between countries.
The whole world heads down to the stadium to sit soaking up the sunlight and sometimes beneath the flood lights, while some fans are huddling round their televisions and radios, stealing some time off work and watching replays on their phones.
This is the time where any little mistake will make fathers ground their kids, husbands shush their wives and wives restless cause they can't watch their favorite TV shows when they would want to. I remember when I was young, during the World Cup, when it was time for a match, my dad would call all of us to the parlor and hand us 3 lollipops each, we would be quietly sucking on the sweet till the match was over except there was a goal by the team my dad was rooting for, we would shout "goallllllll" and 15seconds later, we would be quiet yet again. My uncles and some neighbors would also come around to watch the match because we were the only ones who owned a big black "sharp" TV with a long back in the community. Football really does bring people together because I remember some of my neighbors who quarreled earlier, cheering and laughing together during the match. Thinking about it now brings smiles to my face.
Watching the teams play one can feel the energy, the passion, see the talent, the determination, the hardwork, the effort put into the game. All the participating countries are so excited, some have already seen themselves holding the cup up high as the crowd is cheering and rooting, and all the ribbons flying..... Some teams have trained harder than others, under the sun and in the rain. The passion they have for the game, the zeal to compete and bring glory to their country.
During the matches, yellow cards, red cards will fly and dissapointment will be written on people's faces. Legs will break, ankles will twist, they will be strains and sprains, muscles will pull but in the end will be glory. The deserving team will go home with, smiles and laughter and ultimately the golden Trophy.
