Military Attack - Memories of Gulf War

in stach •  6 years ago

Announced or not,
The intention was clear.
A merciless teacher,
Instruction was destruction.

Simple ones tactically avoided it,
Swallowing their pride
To save their land.
Overbearing ones waited to see,
Daydreaming its impossibility.

On the D-day,
Skylord jets came calling
Landlord troops closed in
Sealord warships answered present.
Avalanch of guided missiles
With eyes that saw in the dark
And knew their destinations
With a pin-point precision
Saluting in humanly disconcordant tunes -
Delivering hard-to-reply
And never-to-forget blows.
Jingles of death here and there
Hell on earth!
The soil quaked
The sky moved violently
In a random rhythm of death dance
Designed to subdue stubbornness
With a total assurance.
The language of devastation
Forced into a blocked ear.

Distress calls were in vain
Assistance was mere verbal condemnation.
Attacks went on
Showers of fire
Danger and death
Demolition and destruction
Knock-outs and knock-downs
With a super high-tech touch.
Who could stand the heat?
But, is there no alternative to war?
