The Concept of Moral Standards

in stach •  6 years ago

Moral Standards refers to the yardstick for deciding why one action should be judged to be right and the other wrong. Most of the time we are faced with situations whereby it's difficult to actually ascertain what is right in one circumstance and what is wrong in another circumstance.
Interestingly, moral standard differs from man to man and community to community. In one place,an act such as adultery may be permitted or punished with lenient penalty but in some other place it could be seen as a taboo and defaulters serve severe penalties. The point here is that there are parameters used by philosophers and non-philosophers for supporting or rejecting human actions as morally right or morally wrong. So moral standards is an important area one must focus in to avoid ignorance being an excuse.
