STACH POETRY SLAM CONTEST EPISODE 4 WINNERS --- Lets meet the poets

in stachpoetry •  6 years ago

This just concluded poetry slam had submissions from 12 steemians:
@nachomolina @maribelquere97 @iamthegray @henrry1954 @manuelruiz21 @warpedpoetic @seesladen @francistagbo @nigerian-yogagal @kinx @four20 @chilarengel

As always, it is an honor to read through the minds of some of the best poetic steemians I have ever met. Everyone brings some kind of sauce to the table. Like I always say with a heavy heart:

We still have to choose a winner.

LET'S MEET OUR WINNERS

The theme of the just concluded poetry contest was BETRAYAL, and writers were asked to each write a poem of 4 stanzas TELLING THE STORY OF BETRAYAL. They were also allowed to either use free-verses or verses that had a particular rhyme scheme. I hope you enjoy these poems as much as we did.

3rd runner-up

@nachomolina

And every night you stand on the ruins of what you took care of
And each phrase comes back to you as an echo of voice, an echo, echo ...
Betrayal is mute when it suits you and is blind to not be seen
Today you did not return home, you have left a heart full of thorns and a betrayal spilled on your letter

He tells a story of a love that was lost. A love that was betrayed by ink and the absence of the lover. Lovely poem sire

2nd runner-up

@nigerian-yogagal

You led me astray,
You are my Heart!
How could you do this !?
You were supposed to warn or stop me
But, you didn't
Instead, you betrayed me
You got me falling all over again
In Love...

At first I thought she was giving us another love story gone wrong betwixt a man and his lady, but in the end I was very dazzled and awe surprised that she referred to her heart. Thank you for playing a fast one on my mind ma'am.
Oh and... ermmmm, ma'am.. you sure do look amazing in those pics. lol

1st runner-up

@warpedpoetic

I gave them life this night sir, to begin
Anew; Was that wrong of me?
Well let me alone on this here bench.
Let me contemplate God and
His infinite wisdom.
Leave the tears , my friend;
One must weep over these things.
Leave the bottle alone, sir
One must get drunk over something.

Crying is not new to men, but this particular man in this very detailed poem has very strong reasons to shed his heart away. @warpedpoetic returns with his usually long portic takes and still finds a way to take the 1st runner-up position again. This time he had me reading till the very end "twice". Thank you so very much sire.

@iamthegray
Chika walked through mud, red and murky
Assured of the warmth and love at home
His friends and superiors called him lucky
To have an angel always waiting at home

He’s not that old but he owns a lot
Friends, a home and a garden on a big plot
But her love is the best he’s come to own
Aye, that’s something even the birds know

He knew his hunger pangs would swiftly pass
When he settled to the aroma of her cooking
He picked a beautiful flower among the grass
And continued, expecting to find her looking

But the sight through the window wasn’t kind
He saw her hug a stranger through the blind
Little Chika crushed the flowers with his hands
There’s a new born baby in his mother’s hands

You might wonder how come he won the contest this week, but if you had the same wow effect I had soon as I read the last line of his poem, you would totally understand. He managed to pass the feeling of betrayal,

+ without using the word "betrayal"
+ without having to involve the sexual flaws in relationships
+ using the tender emotions of a child

It was simply amazing that he left some tears in my eyes. Ever imagined how kids feel when their parents give birth to cuter babies? lol
Thank you so much for this.
