Marcia Lucas literally edited the original trilogy, and was a major influence on the scripts. She did a great job.

In any case, Star Wars was ALWAYS "shaped" by both men and women, and this idiotic obsession with identity has to die... and Disney must stop hiring directors who don't know anything about the projects they're working on.
