This is from a famous episode of startrek where the two planets have a digital war and something similar to a blockchain toi record deaths in voluntary but mandated disintegration chambers ... people self sacrifice to prevent a "real" war which is bad, captain kirk explains that pushed them to make war a tidy clean process when its something we are supposed to avoid
