Star Wars weekends was an event that Disney-MGM / Hollywood Studios held annually from 2003-2015. Every weekend for four weeks in May an June, there would be special Star Wars events including a parade, guests from the movies, Star Wars characters, exclusive merchandise, etc. For me, it really made Hollywood Studios worth going to. Then, just before the new trilogy was released, they decided to end it. They claimed it was because of a greater every day presense of Star Wars in the park with the addition of Galaxy's Edge. Well, I can tell you from first hand experience, it isn't the same. Star Wars Weekends was a whole event worth going to. It was like a mini Star Wars Celebration but included with your regular ticket (or season pass). Galaxy's Edge is just another theme park attraction. This was a stupid decision by Disney. I guess it saved them money.
Anyway, this video is just some clips from the park from May 14th, 2004 during Star Wars Weekends 2004. The first half of the video focuses on some of the Star Wars stuff going on. The second half is from Voyage of the Little Mermaid...not very Star Warsy... I'll be posting other videos from a few different iterations of Star Wars Weekends later, including some of the guest panels.
