I have been to every Star Wars Movie on opening night since 1977 and it has been an important part of my life. Now I didn't think that The Rise of Skywalker was one of the better of the films. I have watched a lot of the negativity around the film on Youtube and I have come to the realization that all of these "diehard" fans have missed the point. Ever since A New Hope went crazy in 1977 money became an integral part of Star Wars.
People are bashing Disney about using the new Trilogy to just make money of of toys and things, but even George Lucas was about merchandising back in the day. The merchandising rights was one of the things that Lucas negotiated for.
I have friends who never saw the first two Trilogies and they loved The Rise of Skywalker. People are forgetting that Star Wars was supposed to be about fun. I know that Star Wars has become a near religion to some and they feel betrayed by Disney and J.J. Abrams.
Everyone just needs to chill and enjoy the ride that has been going on for 42 years.
Star Wars will be a part of my life until the day I die.
