They wear one of the most iconic armor in history, They're identical, trained from birth to fight a war that made almost no sense to them. They were the most elite soldiers in the galaxy. They were the Grand Army of the Republic.
This was the first thing that hooked me to the Star Wars universe, the white identical clone troopers who loyally serve The Republic from the Separatists who threaten the peace.
these elite soldiers were cloned from one of the most dangerous men in the galaxy. A Mandalorian bounty hunter named Jango Fett.
Thanks to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, the Clones were given a chance to show their personalities, they were given a chance to prove that they were human beings with convictions, loyalty and uniqueness.
Today I'm gonna share my top ten Clone Troopers of all time.
*Side note, Clone Troopers are not to be mistaken for Stormtroopers, they exist in a completely different era
10. Commander Thorn
Thorn" was the nickname of a Clone Commander and clone shock trooper who fought for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. At some point during the war, Thorn and a detachment of shock troopers traveled to the planet Scipio alongside Senator Padmé Amidala to oversee Rush Clovis's takeover of the Inter- Galactic Banking Clan's banks. Shortly after Clovis assumed control on the behalf of both the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Separatist leader Count Dooku launched an invasion. Hyena-class bombers attacked Thorn and his men, destroying all of the Republic ships. Ground troops were launched, and the clones fought to the last man, with Thorn standing as the final warrior.
Commander Thorn's last stand
Although Thorn was able to destroy many of the attacking droids, he was nonetheless gunned down when the droids surrounded him and died a heroic death. worthy to be on anybody's Top ten list. Loyal to the Republic till the end
9. Captain Keeli
"Keeli" was the nickname of a clone trooper captain who fought on Ryloth during the Clone Wars. Grown on the planet Kamino as a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, Keeli wielded dual DC-17 blaster pistols when in combat and sported customized Phase I clone trooper armor which featured dark brown markings.
At some point during the Clone Wars, Keeli was present on Ryloth and fought against the Separatist forces that were attempting to capture the planet. Alongside Jedi Master Ima-Gun Di, he was able to divert attention away from the Twi'lek people, long enough to allow supplies to reach them. However, during the battle, Keeli and Di were killed after making a valiant final stand against the Confederate invaders.
Master Di and Keeli's last stand
The duo's sacrifices were not in vain though, as the Republic supplies reached the Twi'leks just in time.
8. Commander Bly(CC-5052)
CC-5052, nicknamed "Bly," was a Clone Commander who served in the Grand Army of the Republic's 327th Star Corps during the Clone Wars. A genetic clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, Bly was grown on the planet Kamino. During the course of the War, he served under Jedi General Aayla Secura, a female Twi'lek Jedi Master who was once apprenticed to the infamous Jedi Quinlan Vos. Bly developed a close working relationship with Secura and accompanied the Jedi Master on a variety of missions to different planets throughout the war.
Master Secura's last moments before being gunned down by Commander Bly and His men
During the final days of the Clone Wars, Bly and the 327th Star Corps under the command of Aayla Secura travelled to the Outer Rim planet Felucia where they tracked down the Separatist Council member Shu Mai. However, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Galactic Republic issued Order 66 before the Battle of Felucia could begin. Bly and the clones then killed Secura in what would later be known as the Jedi Purge.
7. Clone Commando Darman Skirata (RC-1136)
Darman Skirata, formally known as RC-1136 during service to the Galactic Republic, later as IC-1136 after its reorganization into the Galactic Empire, and affectionately known as Dar, was a clone commando of the Grand Army of the Republic and member of Theta Squad, Omega Squad, and Squad 40. He was formally adopted by his training sergeant Kal Skirata. After the Clone Wars ended he was unable to escape to Mandalore with his squad mates and remained on Coruscant with Niner (RC-1309). They were both absorbed into the Imperial Army's 501st Legion after the formation of the Empire.
Darman with the future mother of His son
Darman is the only clone to have a child with a Jedi Knight.
6. Clone Commando Gregor(CC-5576-39)
CC-5576-39, nicknamed "Gregor," served as a clone commando and a clone trooper captain of the Grand Army of the Republic, fighting the Clone Wars. During the Battle of Sarrish, he was forced to retreat into space. His transport ended up crash landing on Abafar. The crash caused him to suffer from amnesia and he was hired by a Sullustan named Borkus who had him work as a dishwasher in a local bar until he regained his memories after Colonel Meebur Gascon showed the commando information to him. He was thought to be killed in an explosion trying to protect the colonel and his companions in a firefight against Separatist droids, but survived, although he suffered from brain damage, causing him to partially go crazy. 15 years after the end of the Clone Wars, Gregor was still alive and was living in a modified AT-TE on Seelos with Captain Rex and Commander Wolffe.
5. Captain Fordo(ARC-77)
ARC-77, known as "Fordo," was an Advanced Recon Commando captain in the Grand Army of the Republic. In 22 BBY, he was assigned to a task force led by the Jedi Knight General Obi-Wan Kenobi, to take the Confederate-held world of Muunilinst. Together with a group of clone troopers that would later come to be known as The Muunilinst 10, Fordo proved instrumental in the Battle of Muunilinst, leading his troops to destroy an enemy artillery emplacement, and then helping Kenobi capture the enemy leader, San Hill.
The badassery of captain Fordo holding the line
Immediately after the battle was over, Fordo was dispatched to the planet Hypori, where a group of Jedi Knights had been trapped by the Confederate General Grievous. Making their way to the Jedi's location, Fordo and his men battled Grievous, but were unable to kill him. They were, however, able to recover three survivors: Ki-Adi-Mundi, Aayla Secura, and Shaak Ti. In 19 BBY, Fordo was on Coruscant when the planet was attacked by the Confederacy. Despite facing overwhelming numbers, Fordo and his men were able to beat back a portion of the attacking force with the help of the Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Yoda.
4. Commander Wolffe(CC-3636)
CC-3636, nicknamed "Wolffe," was a veteran clone trooper commander in the Grand Army of the Republic who served with Jedi General Plo Koon during the Clone Wars. The leader of the 104th Battalion's famed Wolfpack squad, Commander Wolffe proved to be tireless in his efforts against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, displaying an affinity for strategy.
wolffe with his cybernetic eye
During the Battle of Khorm, Wolffe lost his right eye in a fight with the Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress. Although scarred and forced to wear a cybernetic eye replacement, Wolffe continued his military service to the Republic, undertaking several key rescue missions with Koon to Felucia, Vanqor, and Lola Sayu. He personally oversaw a supply mission to the groundquake-devastated planet Aleen, assisted in liberating Togruta slaves from the Zygerrian Slave Empire on Kadavo, and took part in a mission that recovered the lightsaber of the late Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas.
Commander wolffe 15 years after the clone wars
Fifteen years after the end of the Clone Wars, Wolffe was still alive and was living in a modified AT-TE on Seelos with Captain Rex and Clone commando Gregor. Wolffe initially distrusted the Spectres, which included the Jedi Purge survivor Kanan Jarrus among their number. Believing that the rebels were a threat, Wolffe sent a transmission that was picked up by the Imperial Agent Kallus. However, Wolffe came to see reason when Rex spoke up for the rebels and told him they were not a threat. Under Rex's command, Wolffe and Gregor held back Kallus's AT-AT walkers so that the rebels could escape. Following the battle, he and Gregor stayed behind on Seelos while Rex joined the rebellion.
3. Commander Cody(CC-2224)
One of the most famous clones of all time, CC-2224, nicknamed "Cody," was a clone marshal commander who served the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.
Cody and Obi-Wan's last interaction
As a commander of the 212th Attack Battalion, Cody participated in many battles over the course of the war, including the Battle of Utapau, where he was instructed by Chancellor Palpatine to kill Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi after the execution of Order 66.
Cody was the first of the clone commanders to execute order 66
2. ARC Trooper Fives(CT-5555)
CT-5555, also referred to as ARC-5555 and previously designated as CT-27-5555, was a clone trooper who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Due to his clone designation, he was given the nickname "Fives." Originally a clone cadet during the early phase of the pan-galactic conflict between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, Fives completed his training on Kamino and attained the rank of trooper alongside his teammates in Domino Squad. As a newly-trained soldier, he was stationed in a Republic outpost on the Rishi moon at the time of a Separatist attack on the installation. As one of only two survivors, Fives was recruited into the 501st Legion. Following the successful defense of Kamino, he joined the ranks of the elite Advanced Recon Commandos along with CT-1409 ("Echo"), the only other survivor of the attack on Rishi Station.
fives' painful death
While attempting to take Ringo Vinda from the Separatists, Fives witnessed the death of Tiplar, a Jedi General executed mid-battle by CT-5385 ("Tup"). A chain of events was set in motion by the preemptive execution of Clone Protocol 66, leading Fives to discover a conspiracy involving inhibitor chips, a plot to destroy the Jedi Order, and—to an extent—Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine's connection to it. After failing to assassinate Palpatine, Fives sought to warn the Jedi but was confronted by Clone Commander CC-1010 ("Fox") and a contingent of Coruscant Guard shock troopers. Although Fives was killed before he could prove expose the conspiracy behind the inhibitor chips, not every clone executed Order 66. Three clones—CT-7567 ("Rex"), CC-3636 ("Wolffe"), and CC-5576-39 ("Gregor")—removed their chips prior to the activation of Order 66. As such, they did not turn against the Jedi unlike the rest of the clone army that went on to serve the Galactic Empire.
1. Captain Rex(CT-7567)
I know, I know. predictable. but Rex is definitely the best of the best. He's my no. 1 pick because of simply who he is and his dedication to His men.
CT-7567, nicknamed "Rex," was a veteran clone trooper captain who oversaw Torrent Company of the Grand Army of the Republic's famed 501st Legion during the Clone Wars. Rex participated in many battles over the course of the war, and was fond of his dual DC-17 blaster pistols, which he used extensively in battle. As the captain of the 501st, Rex served as second-in-command to Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, whose bravery and unorthodoxy in battle he came to share. He was close friends with Marshal Commander Cody, with their relationship mirroring that of their respective Jedi Generals, Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The four of them often received joint assignments to coordinate front-line campaigns against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Rex and the 501st on their way to arrest the rogue general Pong Krell
Throughout his career, Rex proved to be an effective leader who truly cared for the men under his command, even as he began to doubt his own future—and those of his clone brethren—in the Republic. The Battle of Saleucami saw him meet the clone deserter Cut Lawquane, whom he came to respect despite their striking differences. His leadership was put to the ultimate test at the Battle of Umbara, when he was forced to unite the 501st Legion under an interim Jedi General, the obstinate and aggressive Pong Krell. Rex did not see eye-to-eye with Krell and found himself having to balance his troops' well-being with Krell's high-casualty plans. When Krell manipulated the 501st into a fatal confrontation with their comrades from the 212th Attack Battalion, Rex realized their general was a traitor to the Republic, and he risked charges of treason to lead his men in arresting Krell. The ordeal refined his hard-line obedience to orders, as he also learned the value of making his own decisions as a soldier.
Rex with His armor 15 years after the Clone Wars
Following Tano's departure from the Jedi Order, Rex served alongside her during the Siege of Mandalore. At some point during the Clone Wars, Rex changed his mind and decided to believe Fives, so he removed his inhibitor chip, and as a result, he did not comply with Order 66 when it was issued. Fifteen years after the end of the Clone Wars, Rex was still alive and was living in a modified AT-TE on Seelos with Commander Gregor and Commander Wolffe. Eventually, he fought with Ahsoka Tano again during the rebellion's campaign against the oppressive reign of the Galactic Empire. During that time, he befriended the Jedi Purge survivor Kanan Jarrus and his apprentice Ezra Bridger. Rex would help the Spectres and Phoenix Squadron in their struggle against the Empire and efforts to build up the rebellion.

You guys are awesome!
Nerd Stark
Great post! I had been looking forward to a Star Wars post from you, and I wasn't disappointed.
I also enjoy the clones, and I thought the Clone Wars TV Series did a great job of introducing so many of them. In fact, the episodes that deal with the clones and their problems, decisions, thoughts, etc. were often times much more enjoyable to watch than the diplomatic episodes and other story arcs.
I like your list. I had forgotten about several of these guys, and I need to catch up on Star Wars Rebels, too, since some of them have popped up on that show.
Have you ever played Star Wars: Republic Commando? It's one of my all-time favorite Star Wars PC games, and it deals exclusively with clones. If you've played it, I'd love to know what you thought about it. If not, it's a must-play for anyone who loves the clones.
Thanks for sharing!

Cool! Always nice to learn something new (for me). I did not know about Darman Sikrata. Was he in the books? There were some clone troopers that transitioned into stormtroopers. Especially ones from the 501st. Hehe

Darman and Niner were from Omega squad during the clone wars and were transferred to the 501st after the Jedi Purge.
He was in the Republic Commando Novels.

Ahhh would love the read that one. Most filler stories are in the novels. Parts were the clone wars left hanging.
