As someone who saw Star Wars or "episode 4" as a 4 year old in the first week it opened in 1977, I have to say that I am a long time fan of the series.
Then when "the Force Awakens" came out I had real issues with the script under the new owners. And the direction that the series was taking. But I will talk about that in another post.
For now, let's hear from Mark Hamill himself about what he thought of "The Last Jedi" script and how Luke Skywalker was portrayed. Perhaps one of the most iconic characters in movie history has been trashed.
First of all, Happy New Year sir!
Secondly, I agree with your sentiment wholehartedly. Having liked the Force Awakens (although the script was questionable in parts, it allowed room for interpretation in the future) I was excited to see the new one but when I facepalmed at the Rose final scene I realised I actually liked the prequels far more than I used to think. My first comment was: "This movie was nonsense" and the more time passes since I saw it, the more I'm inclined to dislike it. Shame it grossed 1 billion worldwide.
