Evil in our Midst (Lessons from Star Wars)

Did you see the latest Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi yet? I won't spoil it for you but, I do want to talk about something from the storyline. The rise of Emperor Palpatine, right under the nose of the Jedi Order.

The, supposedly all-knowing Jedi became too arrogant to see what was happening. All the signs were there, as Palpatine moved into position to hold onto his power. Wars were being staged, and he was working both sides of it. Even though this is 'just a movie', can we learn anything from this?

Evil must be confronted before it gains too much Power

The failure to confront evil, allowed it to grow in power. Not only was he able to ascend to the role of Emperor, but that came with the 'fall' of a Open, Free Republic. It also came with the destruction of the Jedi order. Topped off with the complete corruption of possibly their brightest star.

All along, he was moving in plain sight.

The Dark side does not operate with the best interests of all. They are self seeking and self serving. Are there any lessons we can learn from Star Wars? Do you see any parallels, or should we all pretend not to get, what I'm getting at?
