state wars: day 5, food of Colorado

in statewars •  7 years ago

Other than a Denver omelet and a taco, I don't know what food is especially "Colorado" (beer? pot brownies?), so I'm just going to post some photos of food and drink I have enjoyed here. This is a meal I had on my birthday a few years ago, looking out at frozen mountain lakes and sunshine:

Here's a really good beer I had the same little restaurant (which is in Red Feather Lakes, northern Colorado) a few weeks ago. It was a 90 Shilling Ale from Odell Brewing Co. Colorado has a lot of great breweries.

But wait, there's more...

(full disclosure, that's an Alien Amber beer from Roswell, NM, but the THC caramel is from Colorado)

This is a little diner in Alamosa where I had a cheap, delicious lunch of enchiladas recently:

And one more, a no-bake birthday cake my friend made me. It was delicious.

Great post!

Looks like some yummy goodies @sopa-pekar!! That first photo looks delicious! I prefer small diners myself. We have a couple of good ones close by.

That first meal looks delicious. Do you remember what's in it? And you could have done Comes but too easy Maybe?

yes, I do @gniksivart. It was several kinds of small tomatoes (heirloom stripey kind, cherry), mozzarella cheese, shredded basil leaves, little olive oil & balsamic vinegar (I make it in summer). And coffee. "comes"? not sure what that is?

Nice post.I respect you very much because you contribute to steemit.I will do activities like you.I would like to extend the steemit.

Hey there!

We only live about an hour from Alamosa. What restaurant is that?

I love me some enchiladas. 😋

umm...emily's cafe, I think? It's right on the main drag, just past this weird dome bank thing. I live about an hour from Alamosa too. Thanks for your note, @carrieallen.

Lol! Well, that's not very Mexican sounding! 😆

Ya must be new (or just returning) to the Valley. There are weird shaped things ALL OVER THE PLACE ... at least in my crazy neck of the woods.

Enjoy the desert mountain air! We sure do. 😍

I know, it didn't seem Mexican from the outside. But the staff and cook were Latino, all very nice. Yes, I am new to the Valley and it's pretty good so far. Getting used to the vastness. A friend calls it "space with teeth". Thanks for the good wishes @carrieallen. Maybe our paths will cross one day.

"Space with teeth"...

Interesting... weird... I wonder why....🤔

I really love having the HUGE mountains at my door step and being able to see across the entire Valley simply by turning around.

Plus, the SKY!!! It's bigger here than anywhere else. 😉

I had to show you some luv, looked like folks have neglected you. Those joints remind me of my younger days.

Thanks @sultnpapper. I've been enjoying your tour of the lone star state.
