The city of Dunedin, Florida has been facing incredible backlash after the story of J. Ficken went viral, detailing how he might be at risk of losing his home because he failed to cut his grass.
Ficken is facing thousands of dollars in fines from the city, $500 per day, because he failed to cut his grass while he was away from home.
He's facing roughly $30,000 in fines which is ridiculous for cut grass, to be punished to this extent for a victimless crime, and also these fines are an incredible pressure for anyone to face, especially someone who is on a fixed income. Ficken filed a lawsuit against the city and the city has taken issue with the way that they are being portrayed on this issue.
They want the lawsuit to be dismissed and they also argue that the $500/fine per day for uncut grass isn't excessive because it's allowed as per state law.
The city in this matter doesn't like the way that they are looking and they have asked the court to strike portions of the lawsuit.
News reports reveal that the city allegedly hired a crisis PR firm at the cost of about $25,000 to help them deal with the negative criticism they are facing over this issue.
They say that they have been getting death threats, threatening e-mails, phone calls from all over the country.

This is great news! I’m so happy to hear about communities coming together to fight government tyranny. As long as the people can’t feel safe from their property being stolen by the state, the state agents (employees) should not feel safe either. It’s unfortunate, but making these enforcers of the criminal gang called the state feel uncomfortable, unwanted and unsafe in their communities is the only way to communicate to them that the people they claim to serve don’t want their services
