Median payout shot up. I mentioned in the past that this must always come down, like gravity. Only ways for it to come down are for more users and posts, or a price crash.
While it is high, posting is very attractive because even the typical post, which may not take very much effort at all, is bringing in worthwhile money. If you're familiar with basic economics, it's like a 'perfect competition' environment with supernormal profit.

I prefer a high median price. It means a better equity in payout distribution.

It would defy the laws of economics for the median payout to remain high for long.
High distribution can be consistent with low median payout. The way median payout normally drops is an increase in the number of posts. Lots of well paid posts = high distribution.

It's interesting to see how much more commenting there is versus blogging. Is this a sign of a problem or sign of a budding community? I'm stuck somewhere in between thinking this is indicative of a community but also shows a recent jump in spam.

With so many steemit articles promoting commenting as a strategy I think there will be a steady rise in comments which are just for the sake of upvotes and not genuine interaction/feedback. Once the content discovery and visibility of posts by minnows improves other things might fall in place.

@steemitboard seems to have stopped working for me. I have done more than 20 posts total, 4 posts in one day, earned a payout, and earned rewards.
