Over $1.4 million distributed to Steem community! Details inside!

Why is there so much a dislike of women on Steemit? I see a lot of posts declaring "tits" and "boobs", mostly from technical computer guys. At the same time it's not going to make women feel welcome in the environment I would think to see these comments.

Reverse the situation. If women developed this site and were downplaying the posts of guys with comments on penis size then how would we take it?

I'm glad you have said something Dana, it really dismayed me to see the reaction to Guerrint's post; I'm sure the reaction wouldn't have been the same if it was a male making that post.

The fact is, that quite often in economic environments, women are at a disadvantage, they are often taken less seriously than their male counterparts, are paid less, and are beholden to sexist rules, such as length of skirt and so on.

The internet and more specifically Steemit, is a leveler, if guys are pissed off with a woman getting attention because of her boobs, then next time you see a boob pic, ignore it; where do you think the attention is coming from?

Cg

the only economic sufferers of the male gaze are the males.

Amen, @dana-edwards (aka @fairytalelife) - I'm in the wrong browser at the moment.

ha ha

I don’t think it’s meant to be discriminatory or sexist, it’s just that at some point some girls started using some of their charms in posts to get votes, and guys definitely liked it and fell into the trap :)

Actually, as you can see from this list, being in the #2 spot, I'm continually being overlooked as a hard-working, dedicated contributor of diverse content that has little to do with me being female (at least, I am not consciously aware of pushing the male gaze envelope). Providing a much needed stress-relieving service like the Secret Writer has nothing to do with "boobs" and quite frankly I am really tired of hearing men whine about their lack of upvotes due to their mammary-deficient state. It's getting really old. Now, I'm not denying that the male gaze has not accounted for a lot of upvotes, sure, but by oversimplifying the situation, you lump all women in the sexploitation category, which is rather annoying.
The vast majority of my Secret Writer customers are men, so my business model actually has nothing whatsoever to do with exploiting my own sexuality to get upvotes. I had no idea that men would be the vast majority of secret providers, so that indicates that they do not have as many social outlets as women.
My efforts, which have paid off consistently, seem always to be overlooked and misunderstood, while the males continue to whine their pathetic "boobs" cry. Why not turn your energies into something that both benefits the community, the people and yourself?
As I've said from the beginning, the real issue is this: how many whales are female? Until the power dynamics are more balanced, this place will continue to be a sexist environment. The power dynamics are already beginning to shift and I still don't see content coming from the men that I'd like to see: more revealing of shoulders and elbows and more videos shot late at night when boners are unavoidable.

Oh, and great work getting these stats together. Glad you've decided to stay and put together really useful posts.

That’s kind of an angry comment, there is no need to turn this into a feminist debate, I do have the utmost respect for women and I consider them to be equal if not better than men professionally. But this was a joke, I know most feminists don’t like this kind of jokes, but guys like them ;)
Yes I’m staying by popular demand :)

Think your right, people like to see one or two posts that made it big due to their sexual content and think that all women posts now want to use their bodies to make money.
I don't think people over look your content. the fact is I wasn't aware your female while reading your posts.

@stellebelle i happen to like your posts, and i think secret writer is an incredible idea. That said, in spite of your many merits, you're just a crappy example of anything when it comes to what works and what doesnt. You were simply around too early to be in any way representative of what attention a typical poster would get.

Don't believe me? Ill give you the same challenge ive made to 3 or 4 of your peers. DO a reverse secret writer. Post your great, female, non-boob-related ideas and observations under a new screen name. Post a hash of the link here so everyone knows youre not cherry picking results, and see how it does.

Right now, today. Hot girls posting here get paid. Even hot catfish girls. And the history bears that out pretty clearly. If you're not stellabelle, or an author thats promoted on the slack and followed by bots, you have a far smaller chance of success than a post with a lot of boobs.

I love it how my opinion is turned into an "angry" comment, when all I did was reveal the true feelings inside of myself. I even paid you a compliment. If you were in a woman's party day in and day out, you too would grow tired of all the menstrual talk. I go through the same thing in the sausage party. It's boring hearing the same whimpy cries over and over, that's all. Get creative and see what happens. Why not start a new trend for dolphins like me to upvote, something along these lines:

Start a new topic like: hot-programmers. I'd upvote the shit out of that.

Thanks for your compliment, I understand where you come from but it seems some of our sisters here did not like the boobs comment, but I thought it was intelligent and funny that’s all. Of course I never make mass judgements about women or anything else, but you cannot deny the fact that some women posts were exaggeratingly focusing on their charms. I would be amused similarly if it was about men.
Thanks again!
Oh and nice pics :)

Hmm, I could do this, but first let me work out for 6 months, i'll get back to you afterwards. :P

Now that would be worth something! Such is the world, @stellabelle. Want even more proof? Comments on slack - 99.9% testosterone driven

@dana-edwards. Now I have to thank you for being a sensible person. When I read your post, I felt like this. Fuck yeah.

keep waching..

tq 4 information

it is because web on general is boobs

I think it's a very hard in these days to criticize a woman (not all women!) behavior without being cast out of society. The reality is that many people see a post about a young attractive woman releasing ballons into the ocean and getting 10k or whatever and thinks it's unfair. That's all there is to it. That's not a benefit the average (or even the "young attractive") man have here.
