This is a historical graph of both Total STEEM and Liquid STEEM supply

(Note) There are two different scales on these graphs. For full scale, see graph below.

Liquid STEEM is the remaining STEEM that has not been converted into Steem Power. (Orange Line)

  • When STEEM is liquid, it can be readily sold and purchased.
  • When STEEM is locked away in SP, it is not liquid, It takes a significant amount of time to convert it back to a liquid form.

This is a graph of the same data. The data of this graph was plotted on the same scale to show the massive difference between Liquid STEEM and STEEM stored in SP

I created these charts with data that I collected over the 2 years!

Why are these graphs important?

STEEM is created at a high rate. Currently 8.15% per year. Many Steemians have a concern about STEEM inflation with the high rate of new currency creation. These graphs show that there is a limited supply of STEEM. Inflation is being offset by the rate of STEEM converted to Non-Liquid STEEM.

What the ... just happened to the liquid Steem supply? It clearly wasn't powered up based on the graphs. It probably has something to do with the ongoing "battle".

The major exchanges took their customer's STEEM and powered it up. Then they voted new STEEM witnesses and bumped the old ones out of power.

I knew that, such a stupid move...
I think the increase in SP will then show up in the next graph you make.

OK, the increase in SP is not so obvious in the graph above. I see that now. When the Liquid Steem is converted to SP, the total amount of STEEM does not change (blue line). The total amount of SP is the difference of the total STEEM and the Liquid STEEM.

In other words. When Liquid STEEM goes down, it is because it was locked away in SP.

Ok, I see. I thought it was just a graph of SP and a graph of Steem, but I didn't read the legend good enough ;)

@socky, please consider voting for @ausbitbank, voting link - https://steemitwallet.com/~witnesses

Please consider consolidating your witness vote by removing inactive witnesses and lower ranked witnesses in order to try and boost @ausbitbank into the top 20.

All witnesses running 0.22.5 are HOSTILE TRON PUPPETS.

Please consider voting for any of the top REAL witnesses who are NOT running 0.22.5 - thank you for your time and consideration.

Current real-time list of top witnesses - https://steemdb.com/witnesses

We've managed to rally enough support to get 4 REAL witnesses into the top 20 in just the past few hours.

I really feel bad for the witnesses. However, you know the old adage, "Two wrongs don't make a right"

Witnesses started this mess by illegally attempting to void STEEM accounts along with the STEEM in it. I understand that they feel that the STEEM in those accounts was mined and sold illegally, but steeling it is also illegal. I'm really torn. I know that they were trying to do a good thing. They also swore to the STEEM community that they would never pull a stunt like this. Now I don't trust them.

I'm just going to stay out of this. If I support the old witnesses, then I will make an enemy of Justin, If I support Justin, then I will make an enemy of the witnesses. There will be no winners in a war.

Good luck with your war.

I agree with you that the "soft-fork" was unethical, but justin sun is trying to act as a dictator, which seems qualitatively worse than the hodge-podge of motley characters we had running the place before.

I appreciate and respect your decision to "stay-out-of-it", my guess is that justin sun will try to buy more steem in order to buy more influence, this should raise the street-value of steem and this will give the big-fish and witnesses a chance to "cash-out" which will give The Sun what it wants.

I hope the witnesses start their own "social-blockchain" project, I'd be more than happy to jump ship if there was a "better" option.

Thanks again for your time and consideration.

It looks like The Sun has its 17 out of 20 at the moment - https://steemdb.com/witnesses
