How do you Become a Stay at Home Mom?

in stayathomemom •  7 years ago

Being a SAHM (Stay at home mom) is such a rewarding and tiresome job! I wish we got paid for all we do. I have been a SAHM for 5 years now, albeit I'm thankful my husbands job is enough to be able to so, I know most folks don't get or have that luxury. My son started school this year so that opened up more doors, but I still have my 2 year old 24/7.
My best advice is to ultimately do what works best for you and your family.
I tried going back to the workplace after 2 years, and it ended up being worse for me and the family and posed a different kind of stress.
The job itself was fantastic, and truly my dream job, but my husband and I's schedules didn't work out, and paying for childcare was/is a joke!
I know everyone is different, but for me as a first time mom, I wanted to get every waking minute with my newborn. I wanted to be the ones to see him roll over, hold his head up, and tackle all of his first time milestones! To me, that meant way more than any job could offer.
The key I think in all of this is start slow. Dont try to bite off more than you can chew and do whatever makes you happy. Here I am 5 years later now, still a SAHM and every day is a new adventure! Keeping your mind busy is important, but so is rest. :)
I dont know if any of that was helpful, but I do know they are only little once. That time cant ever be made up, so I say make the most of every opportunity!
And congrats and your bundle of joy soon! Any questions feel free to ask! I look forward to following your journey!

Thanks so much for commenting! I totally agree, we ultimately need to make a choice that is going to benefit the whole family. Even though it's going to be tough as a SAHM, it will be so rewarding in the end. Thanks again for the advice it was very helpful! :)

Of course! 👍😊
