Timmy a 13 year old boy who just started his High School, was popular among his friends. He was an only child. Both his parents had their own businesses, they were well of, especially financially . Every body in town new them and wanted to be their friends. Timmy was probably famous because of all the things he had.  Whatever he asked his parents bought it, he could name anything and would have it. That was how life is suppose to be, he thought.

Since he could remember live was easy and everything came easy. When he was in Primary school all the teachers did everything just to make sure he is comfortable and happy. Nobody ever complained about him they were just to happy to be part of his life. He was so excited to begin a new stage in his life.

"This year is going to be different", he thought to himself. " I'm now a man and every body likes me so this is going to be easy"... so he thought.

What he didn't realize was that the teachers wasn't the same as the Primary school he was in, they were more strict and here in this school you listen once and do the work, nobody did it for you. Every thing was different, the kids, the teachers and even his friends. That afternoon when he came home he was exhausted. He ran up the stairs into his room and shut the door. He just went strait to his bed. "What a day. I never thought this would be possible, that every thing can be so different" Timmy thought.

After a week of school he had a new strategy...he will get the teachers to like him if he finds a way to play the parent card...no one could ever resist his parents and their influence. It was not even a day then he realized this wouldn't work. He was sad and disgusted about it, because now it means he will have to work harder.  High school is not a joke and he has to do this on his own without his parents.

During this past few weeks of school he grew really fond of one of the girls in his class, her name was Amy. She was so nice, so happy all the time. There was something different about her and that made him more curious. He started talking to her, every day more and more till they became very good friends. They will go to a coffee shop every day afternoon and just talk for hours, or they will do there homework together. He will always invite her to his home but she always declined it, he didn't always understand why but never made a fuss about it.

The one day after they had coffee she had to leaf. He offered to walk with her and she told him that it would be nice. They made jokes and laughed about all sorts of stuff. They came up to a small, but very beautiful house. The garden was nicely trimmed and everything seemed to be in their place. Amy invited Timmy in to come and meet her mom. At first he hesitated but then agreed to go in with her. When that reached the porch the door opened.

It was her mom, it felt if his heart was beating on the outside of his chess. Her mom was a small lady whit a beautiful face and smile. Now he know where Amy got her looks from. She was so glad to see them and invited them in. Amy kissed her mom and introduces Timmy to her. When he entered the living room he noticed that everything was plain. Nothing fancy but he must say it made him feel welcome and comfortable.

What amused him most of all is the way Amy and her mom talked to each other. The gentleness in their voices, the kindness and love you could see in their body language. Her mom was so interested in her and what she said and even made him part of the conversation. He could't help but feel a little sad. It's not because of what they talked about or the way Amy's mom let him feel, not at all, she made him feel so welcome. He first couldn't understand why, so he tried not to think about it. He enjoyed their conversations so much that he lost track of time, when he looked down on his watched he was surprised to see its 18:00. After greeting them he left.

That evening lying in bed he thought of the day and how much fun he had with Amy and her mom.  Without inviting it, the sadness returned. He tried to shook it off again but this time it grew bigger. He started thinking, he had no reason for feeling this way. He had everything he could ever want. His parents made sure he had everything. And then it strike him. The tears were starting to roll down his cheeks... his parents. He thought of Amy and the way she and her mom treated each other. The way her mom talked to him made him feel warm inside. She was interested in him.  When last did he and his parents spend time together? Or when last did they asked him about his day and really meant it? They were so busy with work and people that it took their family time away. For the first time in his life  he realized that stuff can't fill the gap he feels in his heart. He needed his parents attention. That's why he thought he could buy his way through everything. That few hours in Amy's house he felt loved and important.

The following morning he got up early to make breakfast for his mom and  dad. He has invited them to have breakfast with him. First it was weird, they never have breakfast together. That morning he poured out his heart to his parents. For the first time they listened and you could see it has touched them deeply. That day they decided to change a few things in their home.
