Having fun while learning is such an important part of children's development and recycling materials is an important part of our daily live, so why not combine these two elements.
Today we are going to upcycle/recycle styrofoam or polystyrene. This is another versatile product that can be used for all our subjects, and it makes some wonderful art project.
Mathematics fun with styrofoam
- Practice placevalues
- Practice number orders
- Measure and estimate
- Math facts
- Number associations
- Shapes and colors
- Make a geoboard
Language is fun
- Make letter blocks for learners to practice their spelling.
- Phonics Spinners
- Phonics plate (This is done with plastic plates, but polystyrene plates can also be used)
- Use styrofoam letters to help learners learn the shape and form of letters.
Be creative!!
- Practice fine motorskills by creating this pattern while stringing.

Let's build something

My toddler would LOVE those boats, think I need to make some! We are a polystyrene free home though, so need to find some recycled ones for our next craft activity!

Thank you @cabbagepatch. Took your advice and am busy compiling a "guide" about these posts. Want to post it on my teachers pay teachers account so hope it will do well. It's never easy going back to work, but atleast I have an amazing nanny who takes care of my kids as if they were her own so that puts my heart at rest.

Good luck with your post. Your ideas are really great. I was divorced when my daughter was one so I know the difficulty having to work away from my daughter. I'm glad those days are over. Hang in there!
