This post is going to be a little different than others by myself, but should still be enjoyable.
A good friend of mine, my partner in crime, are always out looking for something to photograph. Both of us are artistic and creative photographers and urban explorers. Lights, light painting and steel wool are a huge part of what we do as working with lights in different ways can have so many unexpected results and furthermore. But the sun cannot be in the way for those practice times so, as with many photographers, we have a dark "go-to" place. A safe place we know like the back of our hands from hours spent there exploring and photographing. It's been a couple of years of going to this place, which is an abandoned glass factory basement. As of Tuesday however, I found out the VERY hard way that we don't know it like the back of our hands. It's not a safe place. It's still an abandoned factory. Walking into a dark room, Terry decided to hang back and let me get my feet wet to check one room out at the end of another room. Backpack, lights, camera, phone, iPod, wallet. My whole being went in, and boy did it ever go in! Comfortably walking through ice cold water that was about 2 inches deep, no big deal. All the sudden, I'm wet, cold, and trying to reach for an edge and not drown. Turns out, under that 2 inches in one area was a 7-foot hole, filled with water. Leady, mercury, rusty, moldy water! Yum!!! In Canadian Winter! Add a 40-minute walk to that!
To say the least of that experience, I don't have photos. I actually got one photo that didn't even turn out, but I'll post it here, the first one. As for the rest, random Steel Wool and colours from us on another night, as this trip did NOT pan out! Enjoy, and thanks!
And some others;
WOAH-HOH! These are awesome! I am always looking forward to your awesome shoots with the fiery lights and sparks!
The one you did at the glass place looks like some sci-fi ray being shot through an intimidating honing spiral or something. Very spooky. I think it was worth the cold feet, even if you don't XD
